Measuring at 48”X60” wide, On the Bright Side is a painting you just want to dive into. With the light refractions in the corners, the lotus petals and lily pads catching the sunlight, the egrets soaring in the wind, and the opal sky, I think the title is a given. Capturing depth in a painting on this scale made my eyes go a little crossed, but I wanted to be sure I could have your eyes focus in on the lotus flowers in the forefront while also drawing you towards the way back to see the fog in the tree line.
This diptych piece is my largest piece to date. I knew this painting was going to be the one to set the tone of the collection. The one where it really looks like heaven and the swamp collided. I pray that those egret wings carry up all the glory of this piece straight up to the Kingdom above.
