What is a “Reworked” Canvas?
A reworked canvas is a print that will make you do a double take because of how much it resembles an original piece of art.
First, a high quality image of Kathryn’s painting is printed on canvas and stretched on a 1.4” wood frame. The image is mirrored onto the sides of the print so framing is not needed for installation.
To begin the “reworking” process, Kathryn covers the front and sides of the canvas with a clear, heavy gel. She then mimics the brushstrokes and brings out the texture of the original painting using brushes and palette knives. When the gel has fully dried down, she uses acrylic paint to bring out the original colors and textures even more so.
Once finished, a reworked canvas print becomes a unique piece of art that the collector can cherish forever and just might forget that it’s not an original.
